Professional Education
An Introductory Course
Two day course aimed at introducing physiotherapists to common vestibular disorders such as BPPV, vestibular neuritis/labyrinthitis, Ménière’s disease, bilateral vestibular hypofunction, migraine associated dizziness and central vestibular pathologies. By having practical components and video examples, the objective of this course is to equip delegates with the knowledge and skills to take a thorough history of the dizzy patient, perform a comprehensive objective examination and develop an up‐to‐date evidence based management plan.
One day advanced workshop concentrating on enhancing BPPV assessment, treatment and clinical reasoning skills. The seminars will target a more complex understanding of the pathophysiology of this condition, as well exploring BPPV management beyond the posterior canal and canalithiasis. Extended practicals will enhance skills in video-oculography, nystagmus interpretation, and appropriate manoeuvre selection.
6-Day Clinical Competency Course
The 6 day clinical competency course is presented by Katrina Williams, Ann Rahmann, Leia Barnes and Natalie Rando (Vestibular Education Australia). Multiple guest lecturers will also enhance the learning experience. This course targets clinicians who have undergone an introductory course and wanting to cement their practice in vestibular rehabilitation. Using a combination of lectures, practicums, simulated patients, live demonstrations and competency assessment, this six day course will equip participants with confidence and skills to tackle both common and unusual vestibular conditions.
Each seminar is presented as a unique one day course targeting a more indepth review of less common vestibular conditions.
C.N.S has a strong neurological focus, including differential diagnosis in Emergency settings. This one day course introduces clinicians to concussion management in the context of the dizzy patient, as well exploration of latest literature on vestibular involvement in stroke, movement disorders and cerebellar dysfunction.
